2. Playing Hockey

1. Where does PBHC play its home matches?
PBHC plays all home matches at Queenswood School, Shepherd’s Way, Brookmans Park, Hatfield, Hertfordshire, AL9 6NS.
Changing facilities are available in the clubhouse next to the pitch, and there are great viewing facilities for friends, family and supporters who want to watch the games.

2. When and where do we train?
All our training sessions take place at Queenswood School. Full details of training days and times for each team can be found here.

3. When is the hockey season?
The main hockey season runs from mid-September to the end of March.
There are also opportunities to play hockey over the summer. What this looks like varies from year to year and is usually decided towards the end of each season.

4. What teams does PBHC have?
We currently have three men's teams and one women's team, providing opportunities to play competitive hockey across a range of abilities and experience levels.

5. When are matches played, and do I need to be available every week?
Matches are played on Saturdays, with our home matches usually taking place in the afternoon.
We understand that we all have lives beyond the hockey pitch and sometimes hockey has to take a back seat — at PBHC, that's OK. Play when you can; we'll always be happy to have you on the pitch.

6. Where can I find fixtures, results and league tables?
You'll find them all on Pitchero — your one-stop shop for all things PBHC. Fixtures, results and league tables can be found within each team's area of the website.
You can also use the Pitchero Club app to keep everything PBHC at your fingertips.

7. What equipment do I need to play?
You'll need suitable trainers — astro trainers or trail-running shoes provide better grip — along with shin pads and a mouthguard. Mouthguards are compulsory for under-18s and strongly recommended for everyone else.
Don't worry about buying a hockey stick straight away. PBHC has a number of spare sticks in different sizes that you can borrow for training and matches until you're ready to invest in your own.

8. What playing kit do I need?
For matches, PBHC players wear red and black.
The men's home kit is a black shirt, black shorts and red socks (black, black, red). The away kit is a white shirt, black shorts and white socks (white, black, white).
The women's home kit is a black shirt, red skirt/skort and black socks (black, red, black). The away kit is a white shirt, red skirt/skort and white socks (white, red, white).
If you need club playing kit, please contact your captain or speak to anyone at training — they'll be happy to help.

9. Do I need to register with England Hockey?
You only need to register with England Hockey if you're going to play Saturday matches or if you plan to umpire. If you're just coming along to training for now, there's no need to register.
When you're ready to play matches, speak to your captain and they will be happy to help with registering through GMS (England Hockey).

10. Can I be a member of PBHC without playing games?
Yes. If you want to play hockey but can’t commit to Saturday matches, we’d still love to have you at training. There’s no requirement to play competitive matches to be part of PBHC.
