The opening exchanges as their league position would suggest was closely fought with the majority of the play taking place in the middle third.

In a strong 10 minutes of play Potters Bar managed to craft several good chances, playing the ball out from the back, through wide areas of the midfield and forcing several penalty corners in quick succession. Unfortunately for Potters Bar a combination of good defending and goalkeeping meant that these opportunities were not converted.

Next it was Hertford’s turn to place the Potters Bar defence under a sustained period of pressure with a series of quick counter attacks down the right hand side. Despite this Potters Bar’s stand in goalkeeper, Emily Gerke, remained largely untroubled. The first half ended with neither team being able to make their periods of possession count.

The second half started in much the same fashion as the first, with both Potters Bar and Hertford enjoying periods of possession without really troubling each other's goal due to some smart defending from both teams.

Potters Bar eventually managed to make their possession count through a lovely run into the top of the D by Caroline Pickersgill, who managed to navigate around the oncoming goalkeeper's dive to score the only goal of the game.

Hertford's main chance came with 10 minutes to go when a good ball sent a Hertford attacker through one on one with Bar’s keeper, however the on coming pressure was enough to distract and send the ball wide of the goal.

A closely fought game ended with a 1-0 victory to Potters Bar who now overtake their opponents to claim third spot, one point behind current league leaders and next week's opponents Berkhamsted Hemel.
