Potters Bar 2nd XI secured a 3–0 victory over St Albans 6th XI in a hard-fought match that showcased both attacking quality and defensive resilience.
Potters Bar started brightly, applying pressure from the opening whistle and creating opportunities in the St Albans half. The pressure eventually paid off when Warren opened the scoring, giving Potters Bar a deserved 1–0 lead at half time.
The second half brought a different challenge as St Albans came out with a high press, putting the Potters Bar defence under significant pressure. However, the backline stood firm, repeatedly absorbing the pressure and keeping the ball out on multiple occasions when St Albans looked dangerous.
There was also a memorable moment from Matt, who, under pressure from the St Albans attack, decided the best course of action was to absolutely hammer the ball over the baseline for a short corner. Unfortunately, rather than relieving the pressure, it simply invited St Albans to turn it up another notch. A questionable decision, but one that certainly earned him his TFC award!
Potters Bar eventually regained control of the game, with Warren grabbing his second before Adrian Clargo added a third to put the result beyond doubt.
With St Albans continuing to press late on, Potters Bar remained organised and determined to protect their lead. The final whistle confirmed a deserved 3–0 victory and a clean sheet.
