Weekend Results - 3 Oct 26

Sarah Withers

A mixed bag of results after a sunny Saturday of hockey.

The Men's 3s Development Team continued their run of scoring first in games and then conceding more than we score. The match against Hertford Men's 7s Development was mostly well balanced until a particularly good substitute arrived for Hertford 10 minutes before half time. That turned the game and he made most of all of their goals. Jack Goodwin did a good job as keeper(many thanks Jack), but was left exposed to good strikes. We had many good team interplays particularly amongst our younger players. The still young (!) Adam Pigden scored our two goals. Onwards to next week!

The Men's 2s played away against St Albans 6s and came away with three points, three goals and a clean sheet. Bar went into the second half one goal up thanks to Warren Edmondson first-half goal but St Albans came out fighting and Bar responded with organisation and discipline, scoring two more goals (one apiece for Warren Edmondson and Adrian Clargo) to secure a 0-3 win away.

Next to play were the Men's 1s at home against Stevenage 1s. A goal for Jayjay Burn in the first five minutes set Bar in the lead, however the could not maintain this and ended the game the wrong end of a 1-2 loss.

The Ladies 1s were the last to play, away against St Albans 8s. The game was fairly even for quite some time, with excellent passages of play from both sides but St Albans were first to score from open play. An equalising goal from Grace Pavett early in second half renewed Bar's hopes of coming home with a win but the St Albans defence were very good at shutting down any advances. St Albans took the lead in the final five minutes and scored again after full time from a short corner, with the game ending in a 3-1 loss for Bar,
