Ladies 3rd XI Match Report
Potters Bar Ladies 3rd XI v Letchworth 4th XI

Arriving at DAO for a 3pm pushback with 100% record so far this season the ladies looked ripe and ready for a good game on a very sunny and warm day.
The start was not the best and an error at the pushback by a makeshift forward (goalkeeper Jenni) saw the ball driven towards our defence and out for a long corner. Letchwood managing to upgrade this well to a short and a well rehearsed set piece converted with 2 passes back to the taker at the post leaving Bar 1-0 down.
This was soon out of mind with some excellent attacking play down both wings. Melissa, Vicky and Gronia working the right and Jenny M, Clare and Chris linking up well down the left. Attacking play and some splendid individual runs causing Letchwood defence to concede multiple short corners and Kelly will feel unlucky as a few shots were merely inches wide of the post. By the end of the 1st half we were in control of the ball and passing the ball well around using the support of the midfield when runners weren’t in space.
Half time and a goal down Kelly lead the half time talk to spur on the 2nd half and go out the way Bar finished the 1st half, which was gladly done. Ruth and Rebecca through the centre pressurising the opposition high up the pitch and winning great ball outside the D. Kelly controlling any counters made by Letchwood and the odd short corner was well dealt with by our defence. All things asked of Glynis in goal were answered with confidence (including a kick straight into the tummy of the striker who responded with ‘oooh, luckily that hit the fat’)
Even with the effort made in the first half, lack of a substitute and being a goal down the fitness and abilities of the Bar team in the game showed. Bar were not looking like a losing team with the only missing factor being lack of that crucial goal allowing heads to be held high even on the wrong end of the 1-0 final score.
