Summer League Ladies Match Report

Yet another clean sheet and win for Potters Bar in the Broxbourne summer league against Welwyn Garden City

21 April 2010 | by Shelly Farmer

The third match of the season against local rivals WGC saw other players from the ladies section wishing to play after the first 2 successes. One being Stanners whose presence was felt in midfield alongside her team mate Walker who provided the back bone to a flux of flare for other 2nd team players such as Rose, Francis and Sayers throughout the game. Gallagher and Holland worked well as pairs in defence, as the usual suspect in their position was umpiring. Then with Edwards back on firing form it wasn’t long before she found the back board and put Bar in the lead, a place Bar were used to being, allowed freedom for Partridge to drive up the centre on a few occasions.

The game was always in Bar’s favour with the majority of the 11 players in Bar’s attacking half, allowing Farmer to create a 3-4-4 formation loading the forwards with countless opportunities. Both Partridge and Porter took advantage of this and made sure their efforts were converted on both of their attempts. Making the final score 3 - 0 to Bar, with Hutcherson keeping her clean sheet and earning yet another 3 points on the league table.

Final Score: Potters Bar 3 - 0 WGC

Goal Scorers: Lucy Edwards, Caroline Partridge and Vanessa Porter

Team: Kelly Hutcherson, Lorraine Gallagher, Caroline Partridge, Charlotte Sayers, Nicola Holland, Anna Walker, Caroline Stanners, Shelley Farmer (Capt.), Clare Rose, Vanessa Porter, Lucy Edwards, Liz Finding, Katy Francis
