Ladies 2nd XI Match Report
Vauxhall Chiltern 2nd XI v Potters Bar Ladies 2nd XI
13 November 2010 | by Helen Stovin, Laura Pointing and Louise Allmark
Once Upon a Time..
Potters Bar won the toss allowing us to have first push back and get off to a strong start. Both teams were fairly evenly matched to start with but then Potters Bar began to dominate with the majority of possession. Shelley Farmer scored an early goal followed quickly by excellent work in the D between Laura Pointing and Louise Allmark allowing Louise to score our second goal. Potters Bar had some more excellent attempts on goal but some brilliant goalkeeping from the other team meant we were unable to extend out lead.
Half time score = Potters Bar 2 - 0 Vauxhall Chiltern
After a quick team talk we were ready to play hard in the second half and, with a shout of 'Smile Everybody' from Louise Allmark, we were off. Some excellent work very early on in the D allowed Laura Pointing to send the ball through for Chris Field to score. However the opposition fought back strongly and scored 2 goals in very quick succession making the score 3-2 to Potters Bar. They had a few more attempts on goal which were saved beautifully by Glenys Chiswell. We didn't give up though and Laura had many shots on goal, all of which were deflected by some excellent work from their goalkeeper. Eventually some great work between Laura and Louise in the D allowed Vanessa Porter to send the final goal home.
Player of the match was Laura Pointing for excellent work in up front throughout the game. Wooden Spoon went to Michelle Lewis for accidentally putting on one black and one white sock and not realising until she walked out onto the pitch
