Ladies 3rd XI Match Report
Saffron Walden 6th XI v Potters Bar Ladies 3rd XI
20 November 2010 | by Kelly Hutcherson
Potters bar ladies 3rd team made the long trip to Saffron Walden knowing their match was going to be the toughest test so far this season with Saffron Walden only one point behind Potters Bar at the top of the league.
After fighting through the fog for most of the journey Potters Bar took to the pitch against their youngest opponents yet. Their centre forward being 14 yrs old and only 4" tall!!
Straight from the off Potters Bar were on the defensive and within 15 mins were 3-0 down to some very skillful play by the young Saffron Walden side.
Potters Bar then settled down and created a few half chances but on the whole could not keep up with the pace of the young team and they were soon 4-0 up.
Jenni Harrington in the Potters Bar goal kept some hopes alive with some excellent keeping and the score remained 4-0 at half time.
The second half started as the first finished and Saffron Walden scored their fifth of the game. From the restart Potters Bar then enjoyed a brief spell of possesion and a good fight and run by Katie Lane up the right allowed Chris Field to sweep home the resulting cross and finally put Potters Bar on the score sheet.
Unfortunately this did not produce a fight back and Saffron Walden went on to score again making the final score 6-1 to Saffron Walden and Potters Bars first defeat of the season.
Man of the match was tied between Jenni Harrington and Katie Lane.
Final Score: Saffron Walden 6 - 1 Potters Bar
Goal Scorers: Chris Field
