Ladies 3rd XI Match Report

Potters Bar Ladies 3rd XI v Stevenage 5th XI

05 February 2011 | by Kelly Hutcherson

Potters Bar 2's arrived at home to play Stevenage 5's eager to get back to their winning ways and score some goals. Whilst Stevenage had some breaks down the centre and left side during the first 10 minutes the Potters Bar defence and mid field easily dealt with this. For the majority of the first half Potters Bar stayed in Stevenage's half with many short corners and shots on goal. Katie Lane and Neusha Pirouzi made a number of penetrative runs up the centre and right side getting balls into the D. Goals came from Claire O'Sullivan and two thundering short corner shots from Kelly Hutcherson. Half time ended 3-0.

In the second half Potters Bar continued to keep the pressure on Stevenage and had many opportunities to score. Kelly Hutcherson scored another two goals from short corners and seemed unable to miss at this point. Rebecca Partridge slotted home the ball after a goal mouth scramble. In the middle of the second half Potters Bar were awarded a penalty stroke after a Stevenage defender kicked a clear goal-bound ball. Kelly Hutcherson stepped up to take it whilst the rest of the team looked on a little confused about what was going on. The shot was saved however it had to be taken again and this time Kelly slotted the ball into the corner of the goal, much to the dismay of the opposition. Throughout the game Potters Bar had 32 long and short corners which certainly served as good practice. Emily Thomas who was playing in her debut match for the club played very well in the centre.

Final Score: Potters Bar 7 - 0 Stevange

Goal Scorers: Kelly Hutcherson (5), Rebecca Partridge, Clare O’Sullivan
