16 October 2010 | by Katy Francis
Following a great start to their first season, Potters Bar Ladies 3rd XI faced Hertford Ladies 4th XI away this week. Potters Bar had first push back and although they were looking to take any early lead as they had done in the previous three games it became apparent Hertford were going to be a tough to beat. Potters Bar had to work hard to defend in the early part of the first half with Hertford's resilient attacking resulting in a number of consecutive short corners being given away, the last resulting a in a goal. Potters Bar were now 1-0 down, the first time they have been in this position so far this season. Potters Bar pushed hard and had a number of chances to come back at Hertford, with Chris Field trying her best to convert the crosses that came in to her with no success.
The second half saw a reversal in possession, with Potters Bar taking more control of the play. Hertford gave away a number of short corners but no goals availed. Potters Bar continued to attack with Vanessa Garner and Vicky Watts both making runs down the right wing to put crosses in to the D. Eventually Garner was able to make a break which allowed her to put a cross into the D which was absent of many of the Hertford defence. This allowed Katy Francis to simply sweep the ball into the goal. The score was 1-1 and Hertford once again pushed hard, Potters Bar were forced into a defensive position. Hertford put a number of crosses into the D, but Bar's defence were able to clear the ball each time . The final score was 1-1, Bar now have several weeks off before their next league game.
