Potters Bar Ladies 1st XI v Blueharts 1st XI

After a disappointing display last week, Potters Bar were looking to put in a good performance against 5th place Bluehearts. Bar started the match positively but early on Bluehearts put Bar under pressure but some excellent saves from Nikki the goalkeeper kept the score at 0-0. Gradually Bar started to dominate the match and their first goal came from a rebound off the keeper’s pads that was picked up by Sarah Jowett after some good build up play from the midfield. A few minutes later Sarah scored her second with a shot from the middle of the D after a good pass in by Caroline Partridge. Bar continued to press forward and came close to scoring several more times including hitting the post. It was not long before Caroline Stanners scored her first and Bar’s third. Bluehearts had a few forays into Bars half but Bar kept the pressure on and it was not long before Jowett scored her hatrick and Bars fourth before half time.
Bar continued in the same vein at the start of the second half with Bar attacking in numbers but they were unable to capitalise. A few times Potters Bar were caught out by quick Bluehearts attacks but again the Bar keeper was able to keep the ball out of her net. Caroline Partridge ahd a shot from a corner disallowed but Bar continued to press and it wasn’t long before Stanners scored her second. Shortly after Stanners completed her hatrick with a solo effort. Bluehearts scored a late consolation goal after some sloppy defending. Overall this was an excellent team performance.
With this result Potters Bar consolidated their forth position in the league.
