Mens 3rd XI Match Report
Potter Bar Mens 3rd XI v Luton Town 4th XI
20 November 2010 | by Iain Martin
The Mens 3s had a late start at home to Luton Town 4s and started strongly with play predominantly in the Luton half. Andrew Jones and Johnny Hobbs combined brilliantly to rip through the Luton defence. The sustained pressure led to a well taken goal by Andrew after 15 minutes.
Luton offered occasional threat on the break before Drew Goodhead scored a well taken solo goal having beaten several defenders and taking on the sliding keeper to score an excellent goal on his senior debut.
Bars domination continued in the second half with Queenie sending in some superb fast paced crosses from the left wing. Several fine saves from Luton 's keeper were required to hold the score to 2-0. George McCormick and Bradley Sayers offered good support to Andrew Jones who completed a hat-trick with two further well taken goals.
Towards the end of the game, Luton’s young players put pressure on the Bar defence and despite some good saves from Jordan Page, Luton scored a consolation goal as we struggled to clear the ball giving the final score as a 4-1 win to the 3s.
Drew Goodhead and George McCormick were men of the match in a game that could easily have been won by many more goals. Best wishes to Oliver Pace who fractured his right thumb following a brave tackle just before half time.
