Mens 3rd XI Match Report
Letchworth 6th XI v Potters Bar Men 3rd XI
06 November 2010 | by David Blakemore
A convincing win for the third’s against a team that in previous seasons have been difficult to beat.
Bar pressed forward from the start and were rewarded by a stunning goal from George Wickham, who smashed the ball home from the edge of the D after dribbling past three defenders.
Steve Walters motivational powers then came into play, with James Pearson clinically slotting home his first of three goals, having been threatened with never playing again unless he scored.
Bar survived the only short corner they conceded in a tense last few minutes of the first half as Letchworth applied their only period of pressure.
Any nerves were quickly removed with George Wickham’s second goal from close range, quickly followed but a double from James Pearson from the top of the D and close in.
The play was all one way with Bradley Sayers having a number of mazy runs down the left which were eventually rewarded in him scoring the sixth goal.
With George McCormack impressing on the right, Bar continued to press and completed the rout with two trademark goals from Dave Ensor, diverting hits into the D past the keeper.
This was a good response following the disappointment of last weeks result, with the squad looking very strong in all positions.
Final Score: Potters Bar 8 - 0 Letchworth
Goal Scorers: James Pearson (3), George Wickham (2), Queenie (2), Bradley Sayers (1)
