Mens 3rd XI Match Report

Bedford Town Vets v Potters Bar 3rd XI

30 October 2010 | by Tim Bye

The Mens 3s put in an excellent performance in being unlucky to go down 2-0 to a very experienced Bedford Town Vets XI who sit comfortably on top of the table.

The challenge begun with the usual tricky journey to Bedford. The first half started nervously with the seasoned opposition making it hard to break through. Bar stayed focused and soon managed to break through with several attempts thwarted by Beds youthful keeper. However, Beds returned the pressure, which Jordan brilliantly staved off, until a multi attempt at Goal by the Home Team, left Jordan stretched and Bar were down 1-0.

The second half opened up and the game became open. Then the late arrival of Dave Ensor, started to turn the game in Bar's favour, however, he found himself in marvelous attacking positions with nobody to lay off to, this left Bar's chances of leveling desperate. This was a very close game with the final score flattering the opposition as the second goal was scored from a short corner in the dying seconds of the match. There were far more positives than negatives to take away from the game, with a man of the match performance from goalkeeper Jordan Page who continues to improve on a weekly basis.
