Potters Bar came into this game having already secured promotion with 10 wins on the bounce (their last loss coming against West Herts on a cold November evening) while West Herts had their own reasons to be confident having won their past 7 games, scoring an incredible 59 goals in that process.

Potters Bar travelled to Berkhampstead with the East Hockey League website having them down as losing 5-0 to Hertford the previous week. This did not however fool Berko as they did their homework by checking the score on the Bar website.

Potters Bar's league season got off to a truly shambolic start. 15 minutes after the scheduled meeting time, the warm up began with the skipper and two other players present - Luton meanwhile had already been warming up for half an hour with a squad of 14 players and two umpires.

Potters Bar faced a strong line up in a green clad Harlow on Monday evening. The astro-turf mimicking kit must have gave Harlow early confidence because seconds after push back Bar conceded a goal, ending Hutcherson’s untarnished clean sheet.
