Ladies 1st XI Match Report

Hertford 1st XI v Potters Bar Ladies 1st XI

26 November 2011 | by Jessica Gilbey

Potters Bar played against Hertford this Saturday 26th of November.  Despite having a loss last week the girls were keen to sneak away with a victory. The game was fierce. Potters Bar kept their cool and with the great ball skills from the Midfield were able to maintain majority of the possession in the first half.  A yellow card was awarded to Hertford and, with Bar having the advantage of an extra player on the field, were able to score a cheeky goal at the end of the first half allowing Bar to be in the lead 3-2.

After an inspirational team talk the girls came out strong with our defence being tight on their players and our forwards constantly moving the ball around.  Throughout the second half Hertford were starting to pick up their game and were able to score a few break away goals. With our forwards having strong runs down the line and numerous shots on goal Bar looked like they were going to have an exceptional victory.

As the game proceeded another yellow card was awarded to Hertford allowing Bar to score 2 more extra goals but unfortunately as second half drew to a close Bar were unable to hold the victory with the final score being a 5-5 draw. Congratulations goes to Vanessa for a fabulous reverse stick goal and Meme who gave it her all to cheer on the team despite her losing her voice.

Final Score: Hertford 5 - 5 Potters Bar

Goal Scorers: Anna Walker (2), Sarah Jowett, Caroline Partridge, Vanessa Porter
