Potters Bar start Herts Junior Hockey League season

Potters Bar fielded teams in three different age groups last Sunday in the first round of the Herts Junior Hockey league.
The highlight of the day was the Under 14 Girls beating Rickmansworth 6-0 with goals from Kelley O’Neill (3), Caitlin Creeley (2) and Daisy Rabbit. Olivia Robinson made some good saves in goal while Rebecca Yates, Shannon King, Charlotte Andiyapan and Suzannah Donovan contained Rickmansworth’s attacked and linked well with the forwards.
The Under 12 Mixed team had more varied results with a squad that included several youngsters playing their first game for the club. The results were a good 3-0 win over St Albans 2nd team, a narrow 0-1 loss to St Albans 1st team despite having most of the play and a heavy defeat to a very experienced Blueharts team. The squad included Andrew Blakemore, George Fennell, Eleanor Martin, Jake Metson, Thomas Afford, George Johnson, Jessica Hawes, Alex Martin and Sorcha Vieyra.
Christopher Pantelli and Tom Johnson played for a combined Potters Bar/Welwyn Garden City Under 14 Boys team that played exceptionally well to restrict St Albans to a 1-0 win but ran out of puff against a strong Rickmansworth team that included several senior team players.
