Atomic Hockey as all teams win
By Anthony Levy on 06 November 2010
Once again all Potters Bar league teams secured maximum points this weekend with some excellent performances:
The Ladies 1s were back in business with a 4-1 victory against Stevenage I at DAOS. The game was held up early in the second half for around 30 minutes due to an unfortunate head injury sustained by a Stevenage defender with the score at 1-1. The delay played into the hands of the Bar side who then played what was described as ‘atomic hockey’ with some excellent goals including 3 for Lucy Edwards and 1 for Emily Sherlock.
The Ladies 2s got back into league action and kept up their excellent record with a 2-1 victory away at Blueharts II, thanks to goals by Shelley Farmer and Claire Rose.
The Mens 1s put on an excellent all round display in taking revenge over St Albans Exiles with a comprehensive 5-1 victory despite an early morning start in St Albans that meant that a number of players were unavailable. Mark Turpin scored twice with one apiece from Freddie Waite, Dave Fennell and Charlie Irish. The Exiles had two players yellow carded in the second half as their frustration came through.
The Mens 2s made amends for the previous week’s display. A strong side put on another excellent all round performance to secure a comfortable 5-1 victory over Stevenage IV at DAOS. Michael Levy scored twice (the first one robbed from Miles Tompkins!), with a goal each from Chris Filbey, James McCormick and Andy Stokes.
The Mens 3s also got back to winning ways with a thumping 8-0 victory away at Letchworth VI, with keeper Jordan Page a mere spectator. James Pearson (wearing the pink naughty socks) scored 3 goals, with 2 goals for Dave ‘Queenie’ Ensor, 2 from George Wickham and 1 from Bradley Sayers. Man of the match, controlling things from the centre of the midfield, was Nick Walton.
The Ladies 3s had another week without a league game but will be back in action next week.
