An Ode to FITF 2010

By Spencer Randon, Mens 2nd XI Captain on 28 May 2010

An ode to Fun In The Forest 2010 by our club loreat, Spencer Randon.

In the last weekend of May we gathered
Tents erect, we’re getting bladdered
Big’s funnel is at the ready
For God’s sake hold that hand steady!

An English Rose wilted early in the fray
A hero stood up and saved the day

Saturday morning, a double warning, threatening our tour
Bring out our Farmer to smooth things over and cultivate a new rapport

Hog roast and salad was great and fine
But someone had pinched the apple sauce, the swine

Saturday night brought a tribal gathering,
The Clans blue their trumpets of intent
Freddie’s face was out of this world
With Rich’s floppy sword always out of kilter.

The contestants knew that a table was afoot,
When an angel swooped down from the North
There we all found Wally, silly boy.
The winners were statuesque in victory
And Mt Rushmore had a smile on all his faces.

On Bambi’s body here scrawled
Words to the effect ‘ I shall master you all’
JP and Gi-GI eyes met across the floor
And love rained down on all

Sweet kisses with the dish of the day
Mrs Goose knew she’d been Cooked anyway

Sunday brought Saints vying for the plate
With Sun and San Miguel affecting their gait
Spenny’s spooning somersault sequence
Sent the gallery into rapture
It didn’t matter, the plate was ours to capture

A few games and giggles started the ball
Hang in a buffalo stance or you have to imbibe it all
A Lezgog interloper joined us, broken, he could barely crawl
One deux three catapulted us to the hall

Pyramids were built, with brawn and booze
whilst all around civilisation was beginning to fall
with Rich at the summit, he peaked too early
Should have remembered the Obelisk Rosé

Rough Ronan was back in the room
Jumping through hoops to make the girls’ swoon
He dropped like a boulder
And injured his shoulder
Now resides in the recovery room!

A waltz with the Strauss was great and fancy
My dance with Chitts a trifle prancey
ARousing suspicion the camera captures it all
Tagged and published, I cringe, it’s on my Facebook wall!

Monday morning, the day of reckoning
Mood like the mattresses deflated, departure beckoning
We kissed, cuddled and said goodbye
But by the afternoon Facebook was alive!
