Potters Bar Hockey Club

West Herts 3rd XI v Potters Bar 1st XI
Saturday 23rd January 2010

The 1st team’s first game back after the forced winter break was disappointing, losing 3-1 to a well drilled West Herts side.

Early on was a battle of the midfields with good attacks from both teams. Bar had a short corner within the first 5 minutes with Ed Wybrow firing into the bottom left corner but it was ruled out by the umpires due to the ball apparently not going out side the ‘D’ first.

West Herts capitalised and scored very soon after quickly followed by a second leaving Bar stunned.

Both teams made lots of chances in the first half and it was a surprising going in at half time only 2-0.

On resumption of the second half West Herts then made it three with a quick break from there own ‘D’; their two young player just had a bit too much gas for the Potters bar defenders.

An unlucky Ed Wybrow hit the post mid way though the second after a skilful bit of play but Potters Bar started to think is wasn’t their day. Mark Turpin sneaked in with a late consolation goal but.

It’s been a rare occasion over the last few seasons but the 1st team were well beaten but will resume next week still top of the league.
