Four more for Potters Bar II as they brush aside Cheshunt III
East Hockey League Division 9 South West
Cheshunt III : 0
Potters Bar II : 4
Scorers: Chris Edwards (2), Spencer Randon, Danny Becker
A professional performance from Potters Bar II saw then through their toughest challenge to date, a young, in form and fit Cheshunt side.
Both sides started well with possession being evenly matched and both sides passing confidently. In the early exchanges, Cheshunt conceded several short corners that Potters Bar failed to capitalise on.
Eventually the deadlock was broken by Chris Edwards striking in his third of the season and Bar went into the break one up.
The second half produced some early scares for Bar as Cheshunt used their width to get the byline, solid defending meant that they rarely threatened the D and when they did threaten they rarely had numbers to profit from their attacks.
Chris Edwards pounced to get his second and open up daylight between the two sides. There then followed a frustrating period of some 10 minutes where Bar created many chances but failed to kill the game off.
Following a incident near the centre circle, Tony Seaman received a yellow card and Bar had to reorganise and play with 10 men for a period. This was dealt with excellent with good shape with Bar still pressing forward to get the third important goal.
The third goal came from a nice move down the right, with a strong show that bounced into the path of Spencer Randon, who duly put it away. Bar were home and dry.
The final and best goal of the game came from Danny Becker dribbling into the box and spotting Cheshunt’s excellent keeper slightly out of position, threaded a ball past a defender and into the bottom right had corner.
With the only 100% record in the league and a staggering 23 goal difference after 5 games Bar a full of confidence and riding high.
