Four more for Potters Bar II as they brush aside Cheshunt III
East Hockey League Division 9 South West
Potters Bar II : 4
Cheshunt III : 1
Scorers: Liam Frame, Andy Bye, Dave Fennell, Alan Holford
A professional performance from Potters Bar II saw then through another tough game against a fit and youthful Cheshunt outfit.
Bar opened the scoring with Liam Frame, followed by Andy Bye from the top to the D to make it 2 nil. Cheshunt broke confidently with good pace, but lacked a cutting edge to punish Bar. Johnny Weller did however make a high class save before half time diving low to his right.
The second half produced some early scares for Bar as Cheshunt scored a soft goal early on and looked like they might come back into the game. This was unusual as Bar’s defensive three had started to settle down and play well together.
Bar regained their 2 goal cushion with David Fennel who had made a number of telling runs down the right flank, using one or two tricks and his ample pace. On this occasion a solo run into the D was finished by slotting the ball in the inside post.
A scrappy portion of the game ensued with bar over reacting to petty fouls, this is a trick Bar must learn, the game was won. Never give the opposition the opportunity to get back into it.
The final goal was scored by Alan Holford, following up to Adam Pigden’s earlier strike and being the right place at the right time.
A good win, Cheshunt are a quality side and fast, Bar were more than their match.
