Having let
the team warm up, Shag duly graced us with his regal presence (the hangover
had not permitted an earlier arrival!). The game started in its normal
'hurly-burly' fashion until Bar started to control the midfield, culminating
in the opening goal from a free hit and susequent goal mouth scramble
which Owen managed to sneak in 'silkily'.
Following a string of passes starting with a free hit, Danny Becker found
Paul Brady who then pushed it through to Adam Pigden who provided a clean
finish for the second goal.
Bar continued to totally dominate despite the absent Chris 'who are ya!'
Wood. The third goal was superb, following good interplay between Becker,
Edwards and Brady who found the ever willing Andy Latham and the goal
strike from an acute angle was awesome.
3-0 at half time neatly reflected the balance of play and naturally West
Herts upped their game. They were unable to convert possession into good
distribution and were therefore practically no threat to a redundant Alan
Field in goal, who apparently collected his P45 later.
Whilst Bar were unable to dominate the midfield as much as in the first
half, they continued to enjoy at least 20 goal attempts from a variety
of opportunities. The redoubtable 'RONSEAL' Andy Latham managed another
tremendous strike from an even more acute angle than his first for the
fourth and final goal.
Another excellent and very disciplined display all round from Bar. With
WGC4 only managing a 1-1 draw against their own 5th XI Potters Bar have
extended their lead to 5 points at the top of SW7 - still a long way to
go!
