Match report by Chris Edwards... Two 8.30 's on a Saturday... not possible - having arrived in a motley manner at the barbaric start time of 10.45!! With our keeper out with injury, and Xmas shopping duty affecting many others, it was a makeshift side (including the skipper's brother Nick as well as John "I'll come out retirement for just one game" Drews) that took to the field and set about the oppostion with gusto. The first 15-20 mins proved to be crucial as that was the only time Berko were really pressing, but they were held up extremely well by messrs. Brady, Nick Wood and Danny Becker in particular. This provided the platform for the Bar to slowly but surely impose themselves on the game which they duly did. Despite the rather weak penalty flick effort by Owen (couldn't decide left or right so went straight at the keeper!) - Bar went ahead after a hit in by Danny B was eventually bundled in by the forementioned O who redeemed himself. So 1-0 to Bar at the half. Shag was delighted to umpire instead of being bored shitless marking a rather strange scottish character who thought it a good idea to goal hang all game and rejected all my offers to him of Tea/cigarette/chair/book etc. Bar went at it again in the second half and dominated and deservedly went 2-0 up through a well taken lift from Owen. Unfortunately Berko did eventually respond on a break and scored a rather messy goal to make it 2-1. Cometh the hour, cometh the man - Daniel junior scored what I believe is his first goal for the club with a well taken close range effort from an acute angle to make it 3-1 which is how it finished. Considering the over-aggressive attitude of some the oppo this was an excellent performance, and remember Cliff some of the idiots are just on the wind up - let's not them win and react. Well done young Daniel and well played everyone - good team performance. A merry Xmas and a happy new year to all.
